10 Months Old

Dear Carder,

I seem to say this every month, but I can't say it enough because it is so true.  Now that you have arrived, time seems to be absolutely flying by.  I can't believe that in 2 short months, my sweet little baby boy will be a year old!  It just doesn't seem possible...every night when I rock you to sleep, I am amazed by how big you have gotten this last year.  At the rate you have been growing, I won't be the least bit surprised if you are half of my height by your first birthday.  Last month you were only 1 1/2 inches short of that...
You are still taking 3-4 bottles per day and eating 3 meals of solids.  We have been working on self feeding but you really don't show much interest in it yet.  You have mastered "chewing" with your gums, but you don't really seem to want to put the food in your own mouth just yet.  At this point, we haven't really started giving you a whole lot of "table food", but I am planning on starting that in the coming days.  You are also drinking much better from a sippy cup and are showing signs that you want to hold it yourself.  Perhaps a surge in changes in the feeding department are in store for us shortly.
This last month brought so many changes in your mobility.  You love to cruise along the furniture and for the most part you are pretty steady at it.  You are still army crawling and haven't moved that up to hands and knees yet.  But, either you have gotten more efficient at it or you just figured out how to make it a lot faster.  As soon as I turn my back, you have crawled somewhere else.  So far, you seem to keep it to a safe distance of your toys - I haven't found you crawling into the kitchen or under the dining room table yet, but I know that is coming.  And probably sooner than I would like to think.

You love to cruise around the house in your walker.  You regularly terrorize the dogs by chasing them around.  And lately you have realized that you can access things that are on surfaces above your head while you are in your walker.  So far you have kept this activity to the dinning room table - but now I need to make sure that the placemats are far enough back from the edge that you can't get your little fingers on them or that if they are close to the edge that nothing harmful or heavy is sitting on them.  I also have to make sure anything with a strap is out of your reach because you love to grab straps - my purse, your diaper bag...anything with a strap hanging off the table is fair game.  As is any jacket hanging on the back of the chair.

You have two teeth now - both of your bottom front teeth (central incisors).  I do miss your gummy grin, but I love looking at your sweet little teeth.  We brush your teeth every day and you seem to enjoy this quite a bit.

I can't wait to see what the next month has in store for us!  I love you, my sweet little boy!

Love,
Mommy

**Was edited to add pictures since getting the post actually finished tool me much longer than I would like to admit.  Thankfully I got it done before you turned 18!
